SVG to PNG rasterizes a scalable vector graphic (SVG) into a fixed-resolution PNG image at whatever output size you choose — needed because SVGs, while great for scaling in browsers and design tools, aren't accepted by every platform, and some tools only support raster formats like PNG.
Because SVG is vector-based (defined by mathematical paths rather than a fixed pixel grid), you can rasterize it at any target resolution — a small 64x64 icon or a large 2000px banner — without the quality loss you'd get from upscaling an already-rasterized PNG or JPG image.
